We wanted to get to know the wonderful Francesca from Spiral Tea, here’s what she had to say: Why did you start Spiral tea? In a world which feels so disconnected I wanted to bring back a deeper sense of connection with ourselves, with each other and the world at large - I choose tea to be the means in spreading this message to reconnect us to our ancestral roots, to deepen our understanding of our ancient worldly culture, traditions and simplicity where we relied solely on planetary resources. Why did you start living an eco lifestyle? I know that the changes I want to see in the world start right here with me! We often say one person living eco won’t make a difference but it’s not about that it’s the about the vibrational current you unconsciously spread through choosing to live consciously. Why did you choose the name Spiral? The Spiral is one of the oldest and most powerful symbols in the world, found through many ancient civilisations. Life force energy in the formation of a Spiral is what connects us to everything in existence nature, earth and the cosmos. What’s your favourite tea? It’s so hard to pick a favourite tea blend because I believe our bodies intuitively are guided to pick the herbs required for our own healing at any given moment. Right now I would say I am loving Siam Immunity (ginger root, lemongrass & kaffir lime) it’s cleansing and purifying with anti inflammatory properties helping symptoms of hayfever. What have you got planned next? I have another collection coming out towards the end of July 2021 called “Embracing Lunar Energy” this is a very special collection as not only can you drink the tea as an infusion but can also utilise the herbs for bathing!

It’s #wastelesswednesday again! Something you may not have considered for Plastic Free July is reducing the plastic in your clothing! Or the plastic that breaks free from your clothing to be more precise. We just love this photo by @guppyfriend - the makers of a rather wonderful laundry bag, that has been proven to catch the micro plastics released from clothing during washing. They also had some rather handy tips on ways to reduce micro plastic pollution: 1. Wash colder: In the vast majority of cases 30°C/86°F is sufficient. 2. Wash shorter: The longer you wash, the more fibres break. All washing machines have a short washing program. 3. Reduce rotation speed: A lot of friction happens during the spin cycle. Skip the spin cycle or reduce the rotation per minute. We wanted to share some more unusual swaps that you could make for Plastic Free July this year. Fresh flowers are often imported, which has many environmental impacts such as plastic, transportation, water and electricity. Pre-pandemic, flowers would be put onto existing flights - however now that isn't always the case with less scheduled flights running at the moment. There is a lot of plastic packaging involved to keep the flowers together and to reduce damage before they reach the florist. Finding a florist that uses UK outdoor grown flowers will make a big difference, and according to @flowersfromthefarm will have a carbon footprint of around 5% of imported bouquets. These will still only last a week or two from a good quality florist. Dried bouquets however, can last for years if well kept, and out of direct sunlight. So whether they're sent as a gift or are just for you - they'll be around for much longer than their fresh flower counter parts, use less plastic and other resources and create less waste. Check out the Early Bird Botanical store in our marketplace, to see what wonderful plastic free options she has available (link in the bio).

We couldn’t have a #wastelesswednesday without mentioning that @plasticfreejuly starts tomorrow. This is such an inspiring campaign, which started out as a local initiative - never intending to turn into the huge movement that it has. Millions of people are choosing to refuse single-use plastics like shopping bags, straws, cups and packaging…to create a world without plastic waste. There’s a growing awareness about the plastic pollution problem. More and more people are getting involved to be a part of the plastic waste solution—and together we are making a difference. Last year 326 million people across the globe took part in the challenge from 177 countries - wow! We invite you to join the challenge at home, work, school or out in the community…because your plastic action counts! Sign up to the challenge (link in our bio). And let us know if you’re in for 2021! #PlasticFreeJuly #ChooseToRefuse #PlasticFreeChallenge #WarOnPlastic #PlasticFreeLiving #SayNoToPlastic #PlasticFreeChallenge2021
For all the hay fever sufferers out there - we feel you 2021 seems to have affected people more than other years, and we wanted to know why? Doctors believe there are two reasons for this - the first because of the weather, but secondly lockdown. Being outside helps to build up immunity to pollen - but with many people spending more time indoors, this may have led to symptoms feeling worse for people. As a long term hay fever sufferer herself, Francesca from Spiral Tea has created the Siam Immunity blend. Containing ginger root, which is a natural anti-histamine and anti-inflammatory. The blend also contains Lemongrass - another herb with antihistamine properties She recommends combining the blend with a few pieces of freshly cut ginger, drizzled with some honey for the ultimate hay fever companion The entire Spiral Tea collection is loose leaf tea, so is a great way to kick start @plasticfreejuly whilst reducing waste too...as well as planting a tree & funding climate crisis projects Head to the link in the bio to find her Siam Immunity tea, and other healing blends ☕ #hayfeverremedy #healingherbs #hayfeverrelief #hayfever #pollen #seasonal #allergies #allergyremedies #naturalremedies #tearecipes #naturalcures #naturalmedicine #herbalremidies #herbalremedy #hayfeversucks #hayfeverproblems # pepperminttea
