Thinking about making the swap to a reusable water bottle? We’ve got you covered! Recycle-more.co.uk estimates that in the UK alone, we get through 13 billion plastic bottles each year. Apparently recycling a single plastic bottle can conserve enough energy to light a 60w light bulb for up to 6 hours...imagine the difference if we didn’t use a plastic bottle at all! We are proud to have the wonderful Shole as part of our marketplace. Created in 2019, they sell a variety of reusables including reusable water bottles, with 4 colour options - blue, coral, grey & black. We love that the bottles say loud & proud # idontdoplastic Not only do they focus on creating reusable products, they also ensure that they reduce plastic within the supply chain too. All their packaging is 100% recyclable or sustainable materials & totally plastic free. It is thought that by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the sea, they want to make sure that doesn’t happen...& so do we - so for every purchase made within our marketplace a tree will be planted & a climate crisis project supported. Which colour would you choose?
We don’t believe in new year new you - we think you’re amazing just as you are, but we know that for many the change of the calendar symbolises a fresh start. We are so excited that we have quite a few of the items in the picture available in our marketplace. This year has already been pretty tough - so how about we create some small lasting changes, gradually. How about making one eco swap every month for the rest of the year? A far less overwhelming option, without feeling like we have to change everything at once We love this wonderful artwork by the talented @rachelraisin What’s been your favourite eco swap so far? 🌎

When we say that every purchase at @wasteless.market helps to fund climate crisis solutions, what do we mean? Here is one of the many important projects by @ecologi_hq This REDD+ avoided unplanned deforestation project, based in the Department of Izabal in the Caribbean coast region of Guatemala, sets out to protect and restore 54,157 hectares of land, which make up part of the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor. This project seeks to address the issue of deforestation in Guatemala on a local level. This initiative will have positive climate, community and biodiversity impacts in the project zone. The project reduces CO2 emissions by preventing deforestation caused by the conversion of forests into cropland. The project prevents deforestation by addressing the drivers of deforestation in the project area through effective law enforcement, land-use planning, education, economic opportunities, and sustainable agroforestry initiative. Since the project’s inception, local communities have been actively participating in the project’s formulation and implementation. The early involvement of participating communities has created awareness among community members and readiness for project implementation. This project is monitored and certified by Verified Carbon Standard. So as you can see every purchase made with us not only makes a difference by supporting small business, but it also helps people and animals across the world. Thank you 🌎
Tap the link in our bio to see Nemi Tea's store We thought we'd share one for the dry January crew (although it is vegan too # justsaying) Congratulations - you are officially over half way through January! Well done, keep going...your liver will thank you 😂 We'd like to introduce the fabulous NEMI Teas Ltd. A specialist London-based tea company, that offers a variety of whole-leaf tea blends both as loose-tea and teabags and a Chai Syrup. Not only do they keep us hydrated - but they also provide employment to refugees to give them local work experience, and job readiness skills to enter the UK workforce and help them integrate into broader society. Lastly all of their teabags are plastic-free, their packaging is biodegradable and the teas are Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance certified. wow. So you can enjoy your cuppa, knowing that not only are you doing good for your body, and helping to provide employment to those that need it - but your purchase also planted a tree and helped to fund projects to help with the climate crisis (as does every purchase with us) Wow that's a lot to fit into a mug! We'd love to know your favourite tea flavour? ☕
The second person in our behind the scenes series is Fiona from Fetcha Chocolates. Here’s what she had to say.... Why did you start your business? I actually started the business after watching Forks Over Knives, I couldn't bear to make dairy and egg heavy cakes when I didn't consider them healthy or ethical myself. This was 2017 and I wasn't sure I'd be able to swap all the ingredients out so I just closed my Country Bumpkin Cakes business. It was only after I started working in my friend's sweet shop, and had people asking for vegan chocolate - that I realised how hard "fancy" vegan chocolate was to come by and almost none that were plastic free. I realised that I wanted it to be easy for people to buy and gift nice vegan chocolates in plastic free packaging that the whole family could enjoy. What was the reason you decided to live a vegan lifestyle? I became plant based after reading The China Study, and vegan after following Plant Based News and realising that loving animals means not using them. What's your favourite animal? My favourite animal is a moose, they are so goofy looking and I just love their big smooshy noses. Favourite moment of 2020? My 2020 highlights were being able to leave my job to take Fetcha full time and growing my own fruits and vegetables! Favourite chocolate? My favourite chocolate is my own - I snack a lot at work but seriously, I bought some @franklydelicious ethical chocolate recently and it was amazing. Fiona is so talented, we’ve included some cakes that she made before going vegan. What an inspiring story, thank you so much for sharing it. Sticking with the theme of vegan deliciousness, this time - vegan chocolate by Fetcha Chocolates. The usual dairy components are replaced with water, which may sound crazy - but we have it on good authority that it tastes AMAZING...apparently it tastes just like chocolate. There are four handmade varieties to choose from - honeycomb, salted caramel, chocolate mousse or a mixture of all three 😋 Their ingredients are, wherever possible, organic, Fairtrade, alcohol free and palm oil free. Allergens are banned from their workshop, and they try as much as possible to ensure their suppliers have an allergen free environment too. Totally plastic free, the box can be reused for storing trinkets, growing seeds or popped into the recycling. The perfect gift for someone special...or for yourself - we could all do with some treats at the moment! As always trees will be planted & a contribution will be made to climate crisis solutions with every purchase. 🌱
